Scam messages circulating again in the name of A-Katsastus

We warn about scam messages sent in the name of A-Katsastus. Emails claim that an additional safety inspection has been scheduled for the recipient’s vehicle by the car manufacturer and that a non-cancelled appointment will incur an inspection fee of 80 euros.
The message also offers a link to modify the booking in Traficom’s online service. These are phishing messages aimed at getting the recipient to click the link and disclose personal information or banking credentials to criminals.

Please note that when booking an inspection time through A-Katsastus booking service, it operates at the address https://ajanvaraus.a-katsastus.fi. Ajovarma’s booking service, on the other hand, operates at the address: https://varaus.ajovarma.fi and requires strong authentication.

General tips regarding scam messages:

  1. Do not click on links in emails or SMS unless you are sure they are safe.
  2. Do not access services via links or search engine results; instead, type the website address in full in the address bar. The most common addresses you use should be saved in the browser’s favorites or bookmarks.
  3. If you have mistakenly provided your credit card information or online banking credentials through a scam message, you may have fallen victim to fraud. First, contact your bank and then file a police report. Attempts at fraud should also be reported.
